The former Brazilian leader has been detained after authorities found he posed a definite escape threat while under home confinement.

The one-time leader was found guilty of plotting a armed takeover in the ninth month and given more than a 27-year term in jail, but he remained under house arrest pending legal challenges.

Brazilian Supreme Court Justice the presiding justice said the move to detain the elderly politician was a safety action after "new facts" came to light.

They also petitioned that Bolsonaro be authorized to leave his home for medical care, saying he demanded frequent medical attention for respiratory ailments and other health problems.

Details of Guilty Verdict

Bolsonaro was determined responsible of heading a plot aimed at maintaining his control after he failed to win the national vote to his ideological adversary, President Lula.
