The highly-awaited Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel arrives on the streaming platform this week, and fan speculation has been widespread.
The first season introduces a large cast of characters living within Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other with musical numbers about their clashes, and builds heated competitions and emotional bonds that drive fan obsession.
The community's expectations for the new season differ greatly, but certain threads emerge over and over: Will a fan-favorite character break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with fan service specifically in mind," the showrunner stated earlier this year. "But I believe that me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator reveals her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have already been green-lit by the production companies, which finance the series.
That might mean viewers have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how fast season 2 progresses, and how many of what they're anticipating happens now.
"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some really amazing reveals, some fascinating backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about the upcoming season — particularly in the format of audience prediction charts.
"I've seen a few fans create a bingo card about season 2," she mentions. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've already completed some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on Prime Video on October 29.
