The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Express Displeasure Over Size Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's garments but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category than originally posted due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to check their listings and manually change the size if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Changes
Earlier, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Manual Updates
A different user, from Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million users, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options after backlash from users.
